Lot preparation has been ongoing though September at Ed and Susan's parcel in Ivy. Gaffney Homes cleared some of the larger and more obviously problematic trees from the land. Last week, Susan met with Michael, the Arborist to have some of the remaining trees evaluated for health and to simply get a better understanding of the natural wealth of the site.
There are a few fruit trees on the lot as well - peach and pear. The pear I picked was not quite ripe, but according to Susan's blog where you can follow the project, the peaches will one day mature into something I can bake into a pie!
(I just have to add: when I see this photo of me with the pear, I totally see my grandma Mecky. Oy. I guess that makes sense, since she was about 45 when I first met her!)
