Here are all my photos from today's Cville Piefest, Charlottesville's premier pie-licious event!

What I will be doing this Sunday #cvillepiefest

The 2010 Cville Pie Fest will be on October 3rd at 3PM in support of PACEM. It will be located at the Haven on First and Market. Keep an eye here for more information, and be sure to check out our Facebook page.

Register your Pie by September 30 for a fun afternoon out, benefiting a great cause!

The photo above is my "specialty" pie - Custard Peach, which I will not be baking for this pie fest since 1) it is not seasonal and 2) I am a judge...but I would love a chance to taste your best pie!

It is Extremely Important that you Register Your Pie...

When you know what pie you want to bake for the Pie Fest, please register it here. Be sure to read the rules. Registration will close after September 30th, so be sure to register before then. In the Pie Fest tradition, we encourage you two bake two of your pies; the best of which you enter into the competition, and the second to be sold or raffled for charity.

We will use your email address to verify your entry and to notify you of anything you need to know related to the Pie Fest, such as when to bring your pie for judging, and where to bring it.

This year, I am one of the first round judges for the Charlottesville Pie Fest: a job I am looking forward to very, very much! Please get out grandma's recipe book, figure out what you're going to bake and register your pie NOW, so I am not disappointed! and Save the Date: Sunday, October 3 at the Haven.

#cvillepiefest Photos

Here are 30+ photos ( in no particular order) I took at the Charlottesville Pie Fest today, including many judges eating much pie!  I was honored to step up to the plate (literally) towards the end of the fest when a few judges had their fill and need relief:  it was a pleasure to be a pinch-pie-taster.

Bravo all...with particular kudos to Steve, Brian, the judges and bakers...as well as everybody who pitched in, showed up, bought raffle tickets, moved pies around to keep the judges busy, watched, laughed and ATE!

It's Not Quite Pie... #cvillepiefest

...but it's a super yummy cobbler of late season eastern peaches.

Charlottesville Dream Home: Lot Clearing and Preparation

Lot preparation has been ongoing though September at Ed and Susan's parcel in Ivy.  Gaffney Homes cleared some of the larger and more obviously problematic trees from the land. Last week, Susan met with Michael, the Arborist to have some of the remaining trees evaluated for health and  to simply get a better understanding of the natural wealth of the site.

There are a few fruit trees on the lot as well - peach and pear. The pear I picked was not quite ripe, but according to Susan's blog  where you can follow the project, the peaches will one day mature into something I can bake into a pie!

(I just have to add: when I see this photo of me with the pear, I totally see my grandma Mecky. Oy.  I guess that makes sense, since she was about 45 when I first met her!)
